NFL Pro Line Mens Indianapolis Colts Vontae Davis Big & Tall Team Color Jersey

The Indianapolis Colts have received calls from at least two teams regarding a trade for cornerback Vontae Davis ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news but did not name the teams that inquired about Davis’ availability.

Davis, 29, is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. He has recorded 17 tackles without an interception in 2017.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Davis has made just one interception in his last 18 games but remains a largely solid corner. He missed the first month of the season due to a groin injury.

The Colts might want to consider trading Davis, due in large part to their dreary outlook for the remainder of the season. They are 2-5 entering Sunday’s game at Cincinnati, and with Andrew Luck once again shut down due to his ongoing recovery for shoulder surgery, have no real shot of bouncing back and returning to the playoffs.

Nothing would stop Davis from returning to Indianapolis this offseason if the two sides wanted a reunion. If a team wants a short-term rental for the second half and a postseason run, there’s no real harm in unloading Davis and adding a late-round draft pick.

The Indianapolis Colts have received inquiries about cornerback Vontae Davis, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Indianapolis has spoken to at least two teams about Davis, whose contract expires after this season.

Davis has been with the Colts since 2012 and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2014 and 2015. However, Davis started this season and last season with injuries. He missed the first two games of 2016 because of a foot injury, and missed the first four games of this season rehabbing a groin injury.

Davis has 22 career interceptions and 335 career tackles entering Sunday’s game at the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Colts (2-5) are currently in last place in the AFC South.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Are the Dallas Cowboys in the market for a veteran cornerback? That’s the question as the Halloween NFL trade deadline quickly approaches.

The Cowboys already have starters in veteran Orlando Scandrick, second-year Anthony Brown and rookie Jourdan Lewis at the position. Adding depth to the secondary at cornerbacks are Bene Benwikere and rookie Chidobe Awuzie. But the Cowboys second round pick out of Colorado continues to struggle with a hamstring injury.

Safeties Kavon Frazier and rookie Xavier Woods can fill in at cornerback as well. But undoubtedly, America’s Team could benefit from an additional set of hands at the position. And could that player be Indianapolis Colts veteran corner Vontae Davis?

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Colts have been fielding calls from at least two different teams about the availability of Davis. In the final season of a four-year, $36 million deal he signed back in 2014, the 29-year old corner might be the perfect bridge player for the Cowboys young defensive backs.

Expecting to receive max compensatory picks in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft due to their free agency losses this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have plenty of ammunition to get a trade or two done to help bolster their roster. And there is certainly a need on the team for a player like Vontae Davis. It could be simply a matter of the right price stopping Dallas from possibly pulling the trigger.
